What makes my art projects different?
 | The vast majority of the "arts & crafts" you find on the internet do
not inspire much real creativity in our children. They tend to have
detailed instructions, tell the children how the project is supposed to
turn out (leaving little room for individuality or exploration) and even
go so far as to pre-cut and pre-draw much of the supplies!! |
 | Now, in contrast, my art projects are "process-oriented" (vs.
"product-oriented"). What's important for young children's art experiences is
not a great final product, but a great experience doing the
project. |
 | I believe in the value of encouraging children to explore many
different art mediums--frequently and repeatedly and let whatever
happens, happen! Having cookie-cutter-copy projects is all fine and
dandy for adults, but children need to have endless possibilities to
develop their boundless creativity. |
